The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) will be present at the upcoming SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference to assist and provide support, according to a recent press release.

The competition is set to take place June 24-28 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. ASE plans to help with the competition in a variety of ways, such as providing tests and educational support.

ASE has several staff members serving on SkillsUSA technical committees, including automotive service technology, automotive maintenance and light repair, collision repair technology, automotive refinish technology, collision damage appraisal, and diesel equipment technology.

The organization has developed high school and college-level written tests for each category. Scores received from the written tests will be combined with the competition’s hands-on segment to determine the three finalists.

As ASE President and CEO Dave Johnson noted, the organization is deeply involved with SkillsUSA, with one of its field managers, Mike Batchelor, chairing the state SkillsUSA competitions in Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Tennessee.

“ASE staff members work hand-in-hand with representatives from a wide range of automotive industry organizations who come together at the NLSC to support the SkillsUSA mission of continued workforce development of the next generation of skilled professionals,” explained Johnson.
